Born Mirra Alfassa, the Mother was Sri Aurobindo’s spiritual collaborator and guided the Ashram’s many-sided life for nearly fifty years.

Sri Aurobindo Society was started by the Mother on 19 September 1960 and has grown into an international organisation carrying spirituality into many fields of life.
